One more great unit while you are planning for October! Integrate Science, Literacy and Writing by reading about the Pumpkin Life Cycle. Graphic organizers, vocabulary cards, and a pumpkin book to write about the life cycle of a pumpkin. Plus bonus 2 Interactive Notebook Pieces and a Number Bond Math Activity. Click the link to my store or any of the pictures to find out more!
Of course you will need the mini-books for your close reading. Get those highlighters out and start annotating! I have included both color and black and white options for your printer and pocket book!
I use these graphic organizers to help my kiddos arrange their thoughts when they are reading. I also love using graphic organizers for their pre-writing activities.
I will talk about the pumpkin vocabulary as we go, and I like to add new vocabulary words to our wall as we talk about them.
This has always been a favorite activity for my kiddos. They really like making a book the shape of a pumpkin. This is great for a better understanding of the Pumpkin Life Cycle and solidifying vocabulary.
My kids can not practice number bonds enough, so I created them and included them as a bonus to you! I hope your kids enjoy them as much as mine do. I also included a vocabulary page as a bonus so the kids can glue them into their journals and write the vocabulary words under the flaps. You can see how I used the vocabulary in my Apple Unit by clicking the link here. I also created a recipe page where the kids can make their own pumpkin recipe and write it under their recipe cover.
I hope you enjoyed this blog post! If you would like more ideas from me, be sure to follow me on Teachers Pay Teachers, Pinterest, and Facebook to stay posted with fabulous freebies and ideas!
