Unlike some decodable readers, we’ve included needed vocabulary for our science and social studies-aligned content while keeping most of our Nonfiction Decodable Passages at 90-100% decodability!

We use high-frequency words that fit the phonics skill (or previous skills) and minimize those “tricky” words. With a few exceptions, these words align well with our fiction decodable readers’ scope and sequence.

Perfect for primary teachers, we’ve incorporated nonfiction reading comprehension and nonfiction text features into each passage so you can integrate those skills all year long.

Nearly all phonics skills come with two passages, one set of vocabulary cards with real photos, and two independent nonfiction reading comprehension activities that spiral over the entire set.
