'Twos'-Day Celebrations
Perhaps you haven’t heard this yet…but there are a couple of special days coming up in February! They are “Twos-Days!” Where everything ‘two’ and ‘pairs’ come into play! February 2nd and February 22nd, are all about the number TWO (2/2 and 2/22) so they make a GREAT 'TWO's-Day themed day!

I am ALL about a theme! I love themed parties, themed units/lessons, and even themed school days! Themes always help with the engagement level in the classroom. Might as well use this idea in February! What can your theme be? Anything you’d like it to be! You can focus on the numbers 2 and/or 22, things in pairs, tutus, tacos, etc.
Themes are da'bomb!!!
But the theme doesn't have to end with Twos Day! You can create themes all year long with no prep activities easily accessible on Education to the Core Premium. Before we get into all of the other fun ways you can celebrate pairs, doubles, and the number two, I want to make sure you have all of the Twos Day printables you need to keep your students engaged throughout the day. 'Twos'-Day Attire

Looking for some ideas for your students or teachers to wear for your 'twos'-day celebrations? Have any more attire ideas to add to this list? Well, I will get to that in a little bit. “Twin Day! - Students can dress up as twins wearing the same clothes, same color, same styles, etc.” ~ Wendy G.
“I’ll make sure kids know that they can wear their class shirts in case they don’t have a twin. This way they’ll end up matching somebody.” ~ Christina P.

“Tube Socks” ~ Jared G. “Tuesday Ties” ~ Kendra D. “We’re going to wear tutus” ~ Samantah M. Just like Samantha, I am already planning on wearing a tutu. Wait… a guy wearing a tutu?? Yup, you read that correctly. Doesn’t matter and I support the idea that clothing and color do not represent gender.

Food / Snacks

Is it even a party without snacks!? If you want to go all out for your 'Twos'-day Celebration consider some of these snacks and treats! Worried about the sugar? Save them for the end of the day or a ‘take-home’ treat to enjoy!

“A parent at my school owns a bakery and makes cookies. I’m going to ask her to make “2” cookies for the class.” ~ Elizabeth G.
“Peanut Butter and Jelly” Talk about the perfect duo food pair. Not my personal favorite, I’m more of a peanut butter and marshmallow guy. Anyways, always take allergies into account.
“Carrots and Celery” - If you prefer to add a few healthy snacks like me, pair it accordingly with a classic duo. Feeling a bit adventurous? Add some dips like ranch or hummus. (Personal dip dishes are highly recommended! No double dippers!)

'Twos'-Day Activities

Ready for some music? I mean who doesn’t love Jack Hartmann!?! Ever done the Tooty Ta?!? Shared videos are a must in the comments! Don’t be shy! https://youtu.be/ea4TVg0_8Dk “Tutor Me”. Have students take turns tutoring you in any subject matter. This will also be a good way to check those skills and see how much they have learned! “Drawing and cutting out creative number 2s of different sizes and colors. Place them throughout the hallways, cafeteria, and special area rooms. Students will tour the school and guess how many 2s were hung by writing their guesses down. There will be a special drawing that afternoon at 2:22!” ~ Denise H. “I plan on pairing my students up for reading, pairing for math games, count by twos.” ~ Diane F.
“How many exercises in 2 minutes?” ~ Jenna T.
“I made some animal pair pictures and am having kids do a caption.” ~ Jenna T. “We are going to do some partner work - working in “2s”.” ~ Dawn E. “Writing prompt: Twins spending $22. What would they buy, what would they do with it?” ~ Luke O. There is an age progression filter on Snapchat that you can estimate what 22 would be for your students! Sounds pretty awesome! However, this comes with some concerns because it is a filter. Districts may not allow Snapchat, etc. So use caution with this one, but is still pretty cool even for your own children at home!

Book List ~ Read Alouds

I cannot pass by a themed day or idea and NOT provide some books to read! Check out this list of fun topics like pairs, two, and more! Feel free to grab some of these titles to read on those days! Several of these titles may be familiar to you and your students already. The first couple of recommendations are sets of books in a series. CREATE YOUR OWN : ex: Have your students each write a page about 2 things they want to do on 2’s day in second grade. Or work in pairs to create their own story. Even that can be broken down into both writing or 1 writer and 1 illustrator.

Wow! There is just so much stuff that I want to jam pack into this 'Twos'-Day Celebration! Unfortunately, it is only one day! I think there is just so much off of this list that I want to try that I may do two celebrations. A smaller celebration on February 2nd (2/2) and then a larger full-day celebration on February 22nd (2/22)! ETTC’s 'Twos'-Day Packet can fill the entire day itself! Alright, I already downloaded my 'Twos-Day' Packet from ETTC, the snacks and treats are on my grocery list, and I have two read-alouds picked out. What else am I missing?
