We can’t be more excited to share our February Centers with you!

You will find a variety of phonics, language, vocabulary, and listening & speaking activities with these February centers.  We provided a great review of essential kindergarten skills, a solid start to first grade skills, and a preview to second grade skills.  These centers will be beneficial to any first grade classroom!

Who? What, and Where?

Students will choose the cards to describe and write about characters, settings, and major events in a story, using key details.

Sight Word Sign Language

Students will recognize and read grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words using sign language.

Singular and Plural Noun Puzzles

Students will match singular and plural nouns of the same category. 

Use singular and plural nouns with matching verbs in basic sentences (e.g., He hops; We hop).

Syllable Puzzles

Students will decode two-syllable words following basic patterns by breaking the words into syllables by completing the puzzles.

Rhyming Match Up

Students will and produce rhyming words by matching the pictures on the rhyming cards.

Preposition Puzzles

Use frequently occurring prepositions by completing the puzzle. (e.g., during, beyond, toward).

Story Details

Students will use the illustrations and details provided to describe its characters, setting, or events.

Making Words

Students will create single-syllable words by blending sounds (phonemes), including consonant blends.
