Good resource for most students

I used these partner plays with students I work with during reading intervention groups. For the most part, they were enjoyable. The students liked taking turns being different parts. Most of the time, the plays were aligned to the specific phonics pattern or skill that was denoted. However, for the earlier phonics skills, I felt like the plays were just a little too long for my students. But the majority of the students I used this with had a Specific Learning Disability in reading, so they would probably be great for students who do not struggle quite as much with reading.

Decodable Reader's Theater

As we shifted to more intense phonics instruction in our intervention groups, it was nice to still be able to do one of the things students enjoyed the most...reader's theater.

These are the BEST!

I have absolutely loved using these decodable plays with my students! They are short and easy to practice but also include a lot of good teaching moments. For example, we read one today that had a tram in it and I was able to introduce context clues to my students and they were able to figure out that a tram must be some kind of vehicle. These plays are fun and they were perfect for my lower groups who needed that decodable support still, but also the added comprehension piece. I also love the front page with all of the words to highlight and practice before reading, as well as the additional props. These are the best!

Great resource

Finally--a reader's theater set my intervention groups can use!

My students loved these. It was just what I was looking for. No matter what, it always seems that when we are doing reader's theater, it is hard to find just the right stories with just the right number of parts. Doing readers theater with a partner is so fun.
